Use of Ohio Direction Card (EBT) at Many Farmers Markets Increases with Incentive Program

Cuyahoga County Assessment: Access to Supermarkets

Cuyahoga County Assessment: Access to Supermarkets is a summary of findings released by the County Planning Commission in December 2011 that shares the methodology and results from a recent food retail assessment in Cuyahoga County.  Using several data sources including local fieldwork and store assessments, the report shares information on low access areas within Cuyahoga County where access to fresh, healthy food needed to maintain a healthy diet may be limited.

Retail Food Gaps and Opportunities in Cuyahoga County

Cuyahoga County Planning Commission, Cuyahoga County Board of Health, OSU Extension, and the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition worked in partnership to develop an updated assessment of the food retail environment in Cuyahoga County.  Building off of the food retail assessment led by County Planning Commission in 2008, this presentation released in December 2011 contains several maps that demonstrate potential relationships between poverty and income, transportation access and car ownership, and food retail locations.... Read more »

Integrating Food Assistance Programs at Farmers Markets in Ohio

Healthy Cleveland Resolution No. 257-11

The Healthy Cleveland Resolution was introduced to Cleveland City Council on February 28, 2011.  The resolution is an initiative led by Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, Cleveland City Council, and the four major hospital systems in the region - Metro Health Hospital, Saint Vincent's Charity Hospital, University Hospitals, and Cleveland Clinic.  The Healthy Cleveland Resolution proposes a comprehensive agenda for improving access to healthy food in Cleveland's neighborhoods, increasing physical activity, addressing smoking cessation, and providing comprehensive support for residents... Read more »

A Start-up Guide for Farmers Markets in Cuyahoga County

2010 Local Food Guide - Cuyahoga County

The Health and Nutrition Working Group of the FPC developed the 2010 Local Food Guide for Cuyahoga County.  The 2010 Local Food Guide contains information on nutrition, food preservation, eating seasonally, and urban agriculture and locations of farmers' markets and urban farms throughout the county.
